My story
Hi, I’m Zariah! I’ve been crocheting blankets for over 12 years from my cozy home in Vermont, usually with a mug of coffee nearby and a dog asleep on my feet.
I taught myself during one very long winter, with a library book, a cheap hook and a lot of patience. My first blanket was lopsided, a little too tight on one side and a little too loose on the other. I still love it. It’s on the couch as I write this.
Since then, I’ve made more blankets than I can count: baby blankets for friends, chunky throws for snowy evenings, and granny squares whenever I need to use up my yarn stash.
Why I design easy patterns
When I started, many patterns assumed I already knew things I didn’t. I’d get stuck on one confusing line and give up for weeks. I don’t want that to happen to you.
So every pattern here follows a few simple rules:
- Plain, friendly English, with every abbreviation explained.
- US crochet terms, always.
- A stitch count at the end of each row, so you always know you’re on track.
- Simple stitches, with one new idea at a time, never ten.
And every pattern is free. I believe anyone can make a blanket they’re proud of.
My yarn corner in Vermont
My favorite spot is a little corner by the window, with baskets of worsted and chunky yarn stacked on the shelves. The seasons here shape a lot of what I make: soft greens in spring, rust and oatmeal in the fall, and cream and chunky textures when the snow comes.
